PARENT GUIDELINES

“Basic Parent Code of Conduct for Visits Together Clients”

Note: Additional case-specific mandates may be applied as necessary

The following protocol must be accepted and understood by parents.
 

1. This code of conduct must be followed to ensure the safety and well being of all involved with the visits:

  • The Visit Monitor will be present and in hearing and seeing range during the visit.

  • The Custodial Parent will arrive at the exact time of the scheduled exchange and return exactly at the end of the scheduled exchange. Custodial parent and/or designees will be required to leave the area immediately upon signing in/dropping off child and picking up child.

  • Custodial and non-custodial parents will arrive at staggered times. Parents will avoid contact with each other.

  • The Non-Custodial Parent will arrive prior to the time of the scheduled exchange and will leave fifteen minutes (15) prior to end of the scheduled exchange.

  • Fees for services must be paid in full, in cash, prior to each visit. No refunds.

  • Use of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs during a visitation is prohibited.

 

2. The following behaviors must be avoided:

  • Inappropriate touching of the child's body.

  • Inappropriate demands for physical contact.

  • Use of foul language.

  • Shouting or yelling at ANYONE.

  • Threat of physical abuse or violence to ANYONE.

  • Attempts to move child away from the sight and/or hearing range of the Visit Monitor.

 

3. Parents may not use scheduled visits to convey correspondence or messages (e.g. related to child support) by the child or Visit Monitor.

  • Parents may not use scheduled visitation exchange sites for service of court documents.

4. Parents must not share detailed court information or court documents with the child or make promises to the child about future living arrangements, time sharing, or visitation modifications. Discussions and activities should focus on the present so as to avoid added pressure and/or disappointment of the child.

 

5. Parents will not speak negatively about the child’s other family members (including the other parent), or ask questions about whereabouts or activities in the presence of the child.”

6. Parents will not use alcohol or non-prescribed drugs 24-hours prior to or during their visits with the child.  Visits will be cancelled if parents appear and are suspected of being under the influence of these prohibited substances.

7. Phone calls to other individuals are not permitted at anytime during the supervised visit. The use of cellular phones is not permitted during the scheduled visit unless in case of emergencies only.

 

8. Weapons or any articles that could be used as weapons are not permitted on the supervised visit.

 

9. Family members and/or friends who are not authorized to participate in monitored visits will be excluded.  Family members and/or friends who are authorized to participate in monitored visits but who do not comply with the expressed code of conduct will cause interruption/cancellation of the visits.

10. There are to be no changes in the supervised visitation schedule unless approved by the court and/or Visit Monitor. Once the day and time has been set, it will be followed on a weekly basis unless either party requests a change. Changes in the schedule must be done one week prior to visitation.

 

11. Non-compliance with any rule or challenging the Supervised Visit Monitor may lead to termination of services.
